Sekarang ini tidak ada definisi yang disetujui menyangkut topik yang membentuk area Interaksi Manusia dengan Komputer. Walaupun begitu kita perlu suatu pengetahuan tentang pentingnya hubungan antara manusia dan komputer, hal ini berguna jika kita ingin memperoleh dan mengembangkan materi pendidikan atau menciptakan suatu software maupun hardware.

Interaksi Manusia dengan Komputer adalah suatu disiplin ilmu yang berkaitan dengan desain, implementasi dan evaluasi dari sistem komputasi yang interaktif untuk digunakan oleh manusia dan studi tentang ruang lingkupnya.

       Bicara mengenai Interaksi Manusia dengan Komputer berarti berbicara tentang kebutuhan manusia akan simpelitas dan bagaimana teknologi komputer bisa mempermudah pekerjaannya. Oleh karena banyaknya subjek yang bisa diambil jika membicarakan Interaksi Manusia dengan Komputer maka disini kita akan membatasi pembicaraan pada IMK pada masalah keuangan.
 
            Sekarang, hampir semua pekerjaan manusia ada interaksi manusia dengan komputer. Mulai dari pekerjaan yang sederhana, seperti menghitung, menulis, membaca sampai pekerjaan yang membutuhkan skill lebih seperti, men-desain, membuat program aplikasi, membuat robot dan sebagainya.

 Contoh dari interaksi manusia dengan komputer dalam bidang keuangan yaitu diantaranya:
  • Kasir yang menghitung pembelanjaan pembeli menggunakan mesin kasir modern yang sekarang sudah menggunakan “touch screen” sebagai alat input-nya.
  • Teller Bank yang menggunakan komputer untuk meng-update data nasabah seperti menabung, menarik tunai, transfer, dan sebagainya.
  • Akuntan yang mengurusi keuangan perkantoran dengan menggunakan aplikasi komputer seperti “Microsoft Excel”.
Contoh-contoh yang disebutkan diatas hanyalah sebagian kecil dari IMK dalam bidang keuangan. Sebenarnya masih banyak lagi yang bisa disebutkan, tapi itu adalah tugas anda untuk menyebutkan sisanya dan juga dalam bidang yang lainnya seperti dalam bidang kebudayaan, pendidikan, desain grafis, arsitektural dan lain-lain. 

Hal yang menarik tentang IMK adalah sejarahnya, tapi untuk ini akan dibahas pada posting yang berikutnya. Jadi, tunggu posting selanjutnya ya..

  2. Human computer interaction  examines how the relationships that occur between computer science related to the design of humans with computers.
